i have numbness only on the bottom of my foot under my big toes only. I have had numerous shots with mixed results and this started with pain on top my foot in the middle closest to my big toe. The doctor now want to operate on top of my foot because he feels the nerve is entrapped. I am reluctant to have it because there is no guarantee. I have to wear pads under both feet just to get relief any help or comments would help.

If this surgeon wants to operate - make sure you feel comfortable with the doctor, have some sort of imaging or nerve conduction studies that can demonstrate entrapment and/ or slowness in the nerve! The best option would be to see another podiatrist - get a 2nd opinion - start least invasive then more invasive!
