Any new cures/treatments in 2018 for fat pad atrophy?

Only 2 options
1) Injection of one a several different materials (not that satisfactory)
2) Soft insole

 

I hope that number 1 gets better with the years, how is it not satisfactory, does it not have any effect? Also soft insoles only work to a certain extent

 

I have begun having pain in this area and it is painful, I have little fat in the ball of my foot. I have tried using the pads in my shoes but they were used ones from another pair of shoes. Hopefully I can get some relief when I go to the podiatrist. I will try a thicker insole pad. I do walk with a slight limp because of this problem. I need help.
