My daughter (18) is 2 weeks post kidner surgery. She is still non weightbearing. The doctor wants her off her foot for another two weeks. (the doc seemed to leave that info out- that she would be 4 weeks non weight bearing when we signed on for the surgery)She is supposed to be a counselor at summer camp starting next week. Not sure how she can actually do that being non weightbearing...I don't think the doctor understood what it means to be a counselor in overnight camp. ...
She also said she can be weight bearing , but wear a boot, in two more weeks, but did not give further instructions- I know Have to call her now that I think about it. But she made it seem like you just get up in the morning and start walking with the boot.. are their precautions that your doctors shared with you? My daughter is going sdtur crazy and just wants to walk again, but of course we don't want to injure anything that was done... In all honesty should hse not be going to camp??

You really need to talk to your surgeon about this. Go back so he can assess how it is healing and talk about a progressive weightbearing plan.

the doctor said everything is healing fine , but never gave us a weight bearing plan, all she said was to start walking.... I was so overwhelmed I did not think to ask what that actually means...
