Hi, my extensor big toe tendon was severed by boat prop Sunday. MRI to confirm is on Monday and I am trying to rush surgery tues or wed as my research says sooner the better. Question one, my ortho has done this before but not routine but seems confident so is there any reason to find one that does this on a more routine basis or is this fairly easy procedure since it's been only a week since injury? Question two, is the downtime really 6-12 weeks???!!! I'm ready to work and dance and play again! Thanks, Michele d.

I just had this same surgery three days ago because I dropped an knife on my foot. The surgery was right away - within hours. I am dying to know the recovery time. This is my third day of only getting off the couch to go to the bathroom, today is Friday, and my follow up appt is not til Monday. Did you ever find out answers? Thanks!

Once again, I am totally puzzled as to why someone who has already placed his or her trust in a doctor to perform surgery upon his body cannot bring him/herself to trust exclusively for the answer to a question regarding prognosis the same surgeon who is intimately familiar with all of the nuances of the case and hopefully has performed the procedure many times on various patients with various collateral facts and differing capacities to heal. Such information is surely more trustworthy than an anecdotal experience of one or two other patients with substantive collateral facts unknown.
