Broken 5th Metatarsal - I'm cramping, help!!

    So, I broke my 5th metatarsal last week and I am in an air boot and walking with crutches. But my calf and foot(especially my arch) on the side I broke have recently been cramping really bad (I'm assuming from lack of use). Does anyone have any tips for how to stretch or get rid of these? A lot of the stretches I know involve using your foot and I don't want to do that. And yes, I have started eating banana's.

    Try Hylands Leg Cramp capsules available at health food stores. I suffer with severe leg cramps and my rheumatologist recommended them. They work (even through the cramps that are in my calf after 5th metatarsal surgery last week.)

    I have the cramps under control but after elevating my foot when I try to lower it the burning searing pain is so intense I am hardly able to breathe. Surgery was 6 days ago and a screw was inserted. The screw was slightly too large and my bones are very brittle. The surgeon was not able to get the bones completely aligned but he said it would be good enough. I am using a wheelchair since I can't handle the crutches. Do u also get this burning pain? How long will it last? I had expected to be in a walking boot by next week. With this level of pain, I don't see that as possible.

    Stretch your body a little, do some stretch exercises but don put lot of pressure. Include lots of magnesium, sodium, calcium and potassium in your diet.
    Eat lots of nuts and beans and other foods that will provide you with these minerals.
