When I pull my feet up towards me I get a burning or tearing sensation down the outside of my feet. The areas affected then goes numb. It started happening if I was stretching my calf muscles but now happens just when walking. Initially it only happened on my left foot but now affects both feet. any idea what could be causing it? My doctor has dismissed it as not getting exercise during a really bad virus.

I put the above question in last year. I have since been diagnosed with lupus and that is what caused the damage to the nerves in my feet.

I’m having the same problem on the outside of my feet and on the top of them. (I googled and came across your post from 10 years ago.) The podiatrist didn’t address my problem at all (I won’t be returning to this Dr). I’m sorry to hear your diagnosis was lupus. I’m curious to know if this condition worsened for you?
    Hoping you are doing well.
