Much to our horror our 15 year old daughter has developed bunions with the one on her left foot being pretty shocking. I can't understand how this has happened as we were always very strict about her wearing any sort of heels and did not allow this at all till she was 14, then only at weekends and occasional nights out. Her left foot is angled and almost looks like the toes will overlap soon and the right foot not far off - she is in pain and accutely embarrased as well as upset. I do suspect she has been wearing unsuitable shoes more that I am aware and she has admitted this in the last 6 months as she says wearinf any sort of flat shoe means the bunions are more obvious. She is pretty hysterically upset at what has happened as she is not goig to be able to wear the shoes she wants to for various events and is horriefied that any of her friends see the bunions so will not do any swimming / beach activity.
I have said that I will pay for surgery if this is what is needed - what i really need to know initally is is this a realistic idea at this young age. Will this mean she will be confined to certain types of shoe afterwards - for ever? I am not sure that I trust her and her mother to enforce this when I am not around full time. Any comments / advice welcome before I take things forward. Thanks

Hmm - guess you would not have let her wear high heels at all in retrospect!
Lots of stuff you can read on this forum for general infor which is probably why no replies.
Must be hard for her at that young age though ... she might have to live with it for a few years at least as doubt they will op at that young age
