I am a physical therapist developing a specialized shoe and have some questions as I work through the process. I’m grateful for any input. Answer as many or as few questions as you’d like. Thank you.

    Do you have bunions?
    Are they painful?
    Do you consider them unsightly?
What have you done about them?
Doctor visits? Podiatrist, orthopedic doctor, family physician?
Have any of the above helped?
If you haven’t done anything about them—why not?
If a shoe was available to help with the pain and deformity would you buy it? Why or why not?
If the doctor recommended a shoe to help would you buy it? Why or why not?
Where would you look for a shoe like this? (web, retail store—specific ones?, catalog, etc)
If you found the shoe attractive as opposed to a standard “orthopedic shoe” would you be more interested and likely to buy?
What would you be willing to pay for a stylish yet helpful shoe?
    What is your age bracket?
    Income bracket?

A shoe which places less pressure on a bunion bump or possibly secondarily caused hammer toes can certainly be helpful, and is already frequently employed, but a shoe cannot and will not treat or help to minimize either the deformity of a bunion or hammertoes. I would hope that whatever you are developing you will acknowledge to be only for palliative relief and not correction.
