    Hi,

About a week ago while climbing (bouldering) I fell form about 7ft (foot hight).
I just missed the safety mat and landed hard on one foot (the other managed to land on the crash mat).

Since then I've had pain putting weight on my heel. which is causing me to walk more on the ball of my feet (avoiding putting weight on my heel).

    Any advice welcome.

    Thanks

Falling from height and landing on foot is a good way to cause a compression fracture of the heel and at the very least a bone contusion and/or ankle sprain. See a podiatrist or other appropriate doctor for an evaluation and treatment as necessary.

Thanks for the advice, saw my GP today, getting some xrays done some time soon.

I should caution you that evaluation of a fracture of a heel may not be as easy as you might think. I would definitely advise that this sort of problem not be under the care of a GP who has not received specialized training in diagnosing this sort of problem.

Thanks for the Advice on the GP.

The GP was only my first step. The x-rays will be reviewed by a specialist at the hospital and if required I will be refereed to a foot/orthopedic Doctor as required.

Its the way the system works over here, If i get referred by my GP to a specialist then its free (apart from the GPs fee about £40), If I go right to a specialist then its considered private and costs about £200 for a 15min appointment.

Also My GP is a specialist for sports injures.
