Hi I am new to this site.

I had an artificial joint put in my right bit toe in 2007. My right foot stays swollen all the time but now there is even a bigger problem.

When I walk it causes tremendous pain that runs through my whole foot, and my foot swells even more. I went into the ER because it was throbbing and they said it has a spur next to the artificial joint but they were not sure if it was there before or it came after.

Now my question is can a sour cause so much pain and has my foot to swell even more?

Oh man I am struggling with all this because it has been one problem after another. My foot is so swollen it feels like pressure in it like it is going to explode.
Thanks and have a wonderful day.

An ER is not the place to go with a problem which apparently has been chronic since your surgery. Joint implantations are not without potential problems. You do not mention anything in regard to having returned either to the surgeon who implanted the joint or another specialist who might knowledgeably evaluate your situation.

I moved to Oregon from California and have been having a hard time even seeing a doctor do to my medical coverage however today I am going in for my first doctor visit so I am going to see a doctor today hoping to be sent to a specialist. So all that is taking place only slowly.

I would recommend that you send for your complete medical records regarding this surgery along with both preoperative and postoperative x-rays, and have them in hand when you see your new doctor.

I saw the regular doctor today. We have to send for my records. My foot is so swollen took xrays and they look normal. There is a spur next to the artificial joint. The doctor is doing some blood test. It is strange how I feel this pressure and throbbing in my foot and it is sooo swollen and yet everything looks normal. Hummm

I saw a specialist today he said spurs have grown all around the artificial joint and has caused the joint to freeze up and he also say the joint was put in on an angle and it is causing the pain. He recommended to fuse the joint. I am thinking it over right now. Do you have any input on what is best for the joint? Any insight would be great right now.
