I injured my foot a few years ago when I accidentally dropped a heavy glass paperweight on the top of my bare foot. It swelled and was sore for a few days afterward. Last year I finally decided to see a doctor about it because every time it got cold outside my foot would give me problems with swelling and pain. My doctor sent me to get an x-ray, which revealed no fracture, but did reveal a case of mild degenerative bone disease in that foot. My question is what should I do about the continued pain? It is cold now where I live and as a result my foot hurts every day. I don't want to have to take pain meds every day but I see no other option. Is there any advice you could give? Thank you.

I don't know why you have pain, but you DID see a doctor, albeit years after your accident, and all you claim to have been discovered was that no fracture from that several year old injury was event at that time and that you had mild bone degeneration which may have no connection to your injury or your pain. What you need is a diagnosis before any advice can be given in regard to your complaint.
