I have had foot pain all summer. The top of my left foot hurts no matter what kind of shoes I have on. I have had some tingling in this foot as well.

One of the major ways that doctors come up with diagnoses is to first think of the likely possibilities based on the information at hand, and then perform examinations and tests which rule each possibility in or out. But that is only reasonable when there is sufficient information available so as to be able to formulate a reasonably sized list. Internet forums are generally exclusively word dependent mediums, and not only does your description lack sufficient information on which to make such a reasonably sized list, but forums are obviously unable to provide physical examinations and/or tests. That's why this is not a good venue for offering diagnoses, and certainly not an appropriate one for treatment advice without a diagnosis. A more reasonable use of Internet medical forums would be to gain additional understanding about the general aspects of a known diagnosis and the principle on which it might be treated.

I agree with Foot Doc+++ Additionally, a consultation with a podiatrist would be a good start for you. Evaluation with a well documented medical history will give you the best possible chance of solving the reason for you ongoing foot pain.
