My son has three growths that look similar to corns on the heel region of his foot. Two are directly affected by the pressure of walking and on is not directly on the bottom but centered on the back of the heel close to the bottom. He states that they hurt when he spends a lot of time on his feet. He has not been overly active over the summer so I am not sure where these things came from. I thought they might be corns, but after reading about corns, it seems that they grow primarily on the toes. Could you provide me some advice on what this could be and if there is a medical remedy he could try. We have already replaced shoes but they have not gone away.

From a statistical point of view only, the most likely diagnoses would be either warts or seed corns, but certainly, any responsible determination of a diagnosis would require a hands-on examination, and any advice on a medical remedy as you request would be dependent upon that definitive diagnosis. You certainly would not wish to attempt to employ even a valid treatment for one condition on some other condition. See a podiatrist, and then I will be pleased to discuss the details and the treatment of the diagnosis given.
