    Hi,
It all started a couple of months ago. I walk funny because of several knee and ankle injuries which meant I was walking inwards and i ended up getting a blister under my big toenail. Went to the doctors and had nail removed. New nail was already growing underneath. But after it dried and healed up I noticed a black mark in the corner. Family I showed it to just laughed and said it was sock fluff. Obviously it isnt. Went back to the docs and they said there is a cancer you can get in the nail and also a black nail fungus so she prescribed me something for a fungal infection. I've looked online for fungus and cancer but can't see anything like this.
Other than the nail being removed there has been no trauma. The black bit has got larger and is now under the new nail although that is a redder colour. Any suggestions as to what it is? I tried posting a pic but it says the file is too large and it wont allow me to post a link until I make 10 posts.

    Difficult without seeing it.
BUT, yes, black under the nail could be a melanoma or could be a simple bruise growing out with the nail

Thats what concerns me as it definitely isnt a bruise. The black looks like it's come through the nail.

I think you need to see someone who can rule out the possibility of cancer as soon as possible. You definitely don't want to mess around with that, the earlier something like that is detected and treated the better. Good luck!

    Thank you.
Its so frustrating that I cant add a pic, at least if it was something else that someone recognised Id feel better about it. I have an appointment Thursday to see a different doctor.
