I was injured July 6th. (at least that's when i first felt pain) I don't remember anything happening to it, although I could have twisted my foot wrong. Went to the ER and got diagnosed with a sprain, was referred to a podiatrist. My podiatrist said it was a stress fracture. I was put in a boot for 4 weeks and then was to come back and re-xray. It is still SUPER SUPER painful, but ONLY when I try to walk or put weight on it. I still have a limp. the more I research my pain area, the more I think I have the "Jones Fracture," so my question is who have all had experiences with these? Should I consider surgery? I work construction so I stand on my feet a lot, and I need to get back to work but obviously I need this healed up. How do you know when you need surgery? it's been almost 5 weeks.

There is a very big difference between a Jones fracture and a stress fracture - what did the x-ray show.

A jones fracture does not need surgery unless it is displaced.
