Jones fracture

Hi all, I sustained a Jones fracture on my right foot 18 days ago while playing flag football. I went up to bat down a pass and the receiver kicked his foot out which struck the outside part of my foot, causing the fracture.

I went to a doctor 2 days later who diagnosed me with the Jones fracture and immediately put me in a hard cast and NWB until further notice. I went back to his office two weeks later and the fracture did not seem to be healing at all and he seemed to want to wait until the 6 week mark on whether or not to place a screw in the bone to ensure union of the bone.

Granted I am very active and carry the financial burden at home, with two young kids and a wife that doesn't work I cannot miss an extended amount of time at work. I decided to get a second opinion. While meetiing with other doctor he advised that based on the xray imaging I would most likely be back to work within the 12 to 14 week mark or I could place a screw in the bone and return to work between 6 to 7 weeks.

I have decided to opt for surgery next week. My question is what can I expect from the surgery and how long will it be until I'm back at work. IE I have to be able to be run at work. Thanks for your help.
