I have had a history of foot injuries, beginning when i was about 20 years ago. Every time i had explained to the doctors that I rolled my ankle but hurt the arch of my foot (I didnt really know what my ankle did, I just knew the position my foot went), all the doctors thought my injury didnt make sense. Here is a run down of my injuries:
    • About a week before i started high school, jumped over a friend and landed on the side of my foot, was on crutches for a few weeks.
    • Few weeks later stepped in a small hole playing football, twisting my foot, putting me on crutches for a few weeks.
    • Year or two later in sports medicine class, friend taped my foot too tight, i was screaming till they cut the tape off.
    • Senior year in track foot swelled without known injury, causing me to be benched for rest of year.
    • 3 or 4 years later jumped out of a swing barefoot, some pain that night, next morning, coming down stairs foot popped, and i could not put any weight on foot. I put pressure on top of foot and ball of foot till it popped again. was then able to walk with my foot wrapped for a few weeks.
    • 2 years later, rolled foot stepping off curb, was on crutches for a few weeks, then could not wear flat shoes for 6 months, only high-heels.
    • 4 years ago, foot cramped extremely bad while going for a walk, then it felt like a bone wanted to come out top of my foot. Dr said it looked like second metatarsal was slightly dislocated and i was in a boot for 10 weeks. Foot swelled after they put me in a boot.
    • 2 years ago rolled foot going down some steps. Foot hurt for weeks if the side of my foot was bumped.
Currently my foot still causes me pain, along the joint of first metatarsal and cuboid bone.

Complex; hard to offer any advice without seeing it.
Suggest you get to a manipulative physical therapist to do a lot of exercises and a lot of mobilization and see what happens.
