Hi, new to the forum specifically for this question. I have flat feet that overpronate very noticeably. My podiatrist advised me to have surgery to get my heel cord lengthened and get in a arch support after. So that's what we did. Well I'm 2 months out of surgery (a week out of casts) and it seems like nothing has changed. My feet are still flat, they still overpronate, and the arch supports don't do a thing. Before I complain to my Doctor on my next visit I want to know could this be because I'm obese? (6'2 240 pounds.) I also would like to know if anybody is familiar with this surgery and know what it's supposed to do. Be glad to hear you answers. Thank you!

Arch supports might accommodate flat feet and pronation while they are worn, but do not cure either. Having not examined you, I have no ideas as to whether the recommended heel chord lengthening was appropriate for you.
