I have a corn on my fourth toe and it is EXTREMELY painful and it pains me even if I am wearing wide shoes. I went to the podiatrist and was given a trim of the corn however this corn has become so painful until it is difficult to wear a shoe of any kind. I want if this corn can be surgically removed and how long is the healing process.

Baring complications, the probable healing time after surgery would depend upon the type of procedure to be performed, as dictated by the type of corn, the general viability and recuperative abilities of the patient and the type of activity the ability of which to perform defines recovery.

In the few cases where a closed bone or soft tissue only procedure is appropriate, recovery time could be nil or just a few days. If open bone surgery is necessary (as is generally the case), a couple to several weeks is generally well to plan for, depending again upon the factors discussed above.
