I have SEVERE pain in my tarsal area that radiates down the 1st metatarsal and digit. Pain is mostly on the top of foot, but also affects ankle and movement of foot. I have had it for years and was in an orthpedic boot for more than 2 years without ever getting a diagnosis.

Now that I have gone back to work, it is almost unbearable. It is minimally painful during work (I'm on my feet most of 8 hrs a day), but is at its worst 1) if have sat with foot dangling, I have a hard time pulling it up and putting wt on it. 2) after any period of rest, it beings to swell and is painful. The longer I am on my feet, the more it will hurt after I have rested. Some days, I can barely walk on it. and can't move my ankle or big toe without SEVER PAIN! Pain usually goes away or become minimal within 24-48hrs, until I am again on my feet for another long period. I will get a band of swelling (about 1 1/2" wide) across the top of tarsus that is worse on the medial side and can extend up to the ankle and down to the toes when it is severe. I get muscle spasms when I rest it that go up my calf and it really hurts when I point my toes up. It has limited my movement and now my foot is starting to point outward slightly. I can't rise up on the toes of that foot either.

I know I have a heel spur as well as morton's neuromas in both feet. I use to have high arches that are falling so I wear arch supports and have begun wearing an ankle brace again, which helps a little.

ANY IDEAS??? There are some days I wonder how I'll ever get back to work again!
