Im 57 yo, I broke my 4th & 5th metatarsal 8 weeks ago while mountain biking. Had surgery 6 weeks ago. Both bones were displaced, the 5th was in several pieces. The Dr had to put a plate & 6 screws in both. I have been in a cam boot the whole time and able to walk with it ok. Xray has showed some healing & I've been using a bone growth stim for about a week. They just they switched me from the boot to a shoe & I'm so disappointed. Walking is very difficult, swelling & pain is back, plus I can't walk very much in it. I'm supposed to go into a stiff athletic shoe in 2 weeks but not sure I'll be able to. Anybody with a similar injury that has any advice, tips or how long until I'm back to normal?

The only advice, and all you can do is be as active as possible within the limits of pain
Moving and loading is important to rehab and healing
If too painful --> implies damage being done --> importance of working within limits.
