After 2 failed bunion surgeries (modified McBride and Chevron), my ortho sent me to another ortho who specializes in foot and ankles. I finally had my appointment yesterday and am scheduled for surgery Sept. 2. The pod said the Lapidus procedure was not for me since I didn't display any hypermobility and that he didn't want to risk my already shortened big toe getting any shorter. So he is going to do a proximal osteotomy with some soft tissue repair. This will include grafting in some bone to increase my toe length by a few mm. I did ask about getting both feet done, but he would rather do the same procedure on my other foot, rather than risk it not working right....and being non-weightbearing on both feet is an impossibility lol.

Have any of you had procedures similar to this? I'll be having my pre-op sometime in August and want to make a list of questions...I'd like to know what further hardware I'm going to have put in and how long I'll be non-weightbearing as well as whether I'll need physical therapy etc. I know I have 2 months before I can ask, but I am on the cancellation list so it might come up sooner :)

    TIA!
