Hi, I have been experiencing debilitating pain due to over pronation for many years, and I think it's finally time to consider flat foot reconstructive surgery. I am concerned about finding a skilled doctor, the time required for recovery and whether the surgery will actually be worth it, e.g. will it relieve the pain, will the foot stay in position, will I be able to walk without pain.

I have had pain in my feet for as long as I can remember, and it's to the point where I cannot walk anywhere barefoot/without sneakers with custom orthotics. My ankle still rolls in. I wear shoes in the house; I cannot walk up and down stairs without them. My foot looks deformed in shoes, and it's extremely difficult to find any work shoe I can wear. Vionics aren't supportive enough, but they are better than nothing. I dread ever having to wear heels and going to client meetings and office functions where I have to wear dressy shoes and walk a lot because of the pain. I've been walking with a limp for several years now. I can no longer jog or do Zumba or wear heels. Everything is painful, and my day to day activities are limited by my ability to walk/stand. I'm too young to continue to live like this!!

I live north of NYC and can travel there if need be. Does anyone have any experience with flat foot reconstructive surgery and have any physician recommendations? I've heard that HSS is the best place to go, but many doctors there don't take insurance.

    Thank you for your time.

If you have Facebook request to be added to the Flat Feet Support Group, there are several people who will know of some good doctors in the area and lots of people who can relate and have been through surgery before. Good luck!
