First metatarsal pain

I've noticed this for a while from time to time, but today (after a flag football game last night with a lot of cutting and stutter steps) I woke up and noticed that both (usually it's just one) of the longer bones going to my big toes were giving me pain. (body of the first metatarsals?)...I feel it when I walk and when I flex my toes/that area and I have fairly high arches I believe because my footprint is like three separate parts; heel, ball, and toes. I'm also quite bouncy and jog on my toes during soccer and football games so I heard that could cause strain.

I'm curious as to what is causing the pain...usually I'd just feel my right one occasionally which I thought was because of a lingering high ankle sprain along with some torn cartilage. But this pain seems to be occurring more often, and I'd like to know how to fix it but I'd especially like to know WHY this happens, because this stuff fascinates me to be honest.

    Thank you in advance!
