I suffered a Jones Fracture on Aug 15, 2011. I had surgery to have a screw inserted on Aug 26, 2011.

As of November, the X-rays showed that the bone is completely healed. However, I still have pain in my foot up to now. The pain is not constant and appears only sometimes depending on how I step on or position my foot. The pain is also not where the incision is, but higher up on the same side of the foot. When I press down on the spot with my fingers, there is no pain. Could this pain be coming from the screw?? I am going to see my doctor this Wednesday, but I am wondering what other people's experiences have been.

Also, if I have to have the screw taken out how long will it be until I am back on my feet again?

I am suffering from the same issue. May I ask what you ended up doing, and if you took the screw out/what the recovering time was like for that?

Well I do have a screw in my foot for a Jones fracture as well. I think you need to talk with your doctor about having the screw removed.

If I had a screw in my foot, I would have it taken out if I could feel the screw through the skin and rubbing the screw created pain. If the pain was more than an inch away from where the screw was, I would look for a different explanation of what is causing the pain.

The amount of time off your feet after a screw removal depends on what kind of defect is left. For most screw removals you would have to be careful until the skin incision is healed. Skin incisions usually heal in 10-14 days.

Being off your feet for a little over a week could relieve the pain you are having.
