Hi all . My son had lisfranc surgery in Jan 2021. Everyrhing went well and the surgeon was happy enough to let him resume a full training schedule. After returning to playing ( rugby union ) he had about 5 games and had to have more surgery to remove the plate from the initial surgery as a screw had snapped . But 6 weeks after this , after being once again told there were no restrictions on his training , he is having quite a lot of pain . Is this something he will have to train , play through or more cause for concern ?
    Thank you

    It generally all about load.
Needs to rest or do very mild activity or alternative activities until it properly settle down.
Then gradually and very very slowly increase activity levels.
Its not a matter of coming back to paly sport --- it has to be very slow and gradual increase in loads so the foot as time to adapt to those loads.

Thank you. His problem is that he is contracted to a professional rugby union outfit and I really don't think it's been slow or gradual increase. Probably the opposite so this could be where the problem is ?
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply
