5th metatarsal fracture - dancers fracture

Hi! I broke my 5th metatarsal 6 weeks ago. Per podiatrist it was a dancers fracture (though from what I can see online it doesn't appear to be one). I have been non weight bearing for the last 6 weeks in a boot with crutches. I had x-rays yesterday and x-rays showed little to no bone regrowth. I still have swelling (minimal) and bruising. The podiatrist said I could start to weight bear but I still feel pain. I have another appointment to go back in 5 weeks for another round of xrays.

So... Any thoughts on if I should get a second opinion? Shouldn't there have been some bone regrowth by now? I've been following docs orders (no weight, elevation, etc). I am 44 years old, fit and was a runner pre injury. This is 1st broken bone and osteoporosis has been ruled out.

Thanks in advance for your advice!
